"FUEL CELLS"
Presented by The Friends of CRC
CRC Auditorium. Thursday, February 27, 2003.

Joe Lackner was D.N.D Program Manager for Fuel cells and Batteries before retirement.
D.N.D pioneered some of the early studies on Fuel Cells from the 1980's on and were responsible in part for the sucess of the Ballard Fuel Cell. Fuel Cells have been discussed quite often as a viable alternative to gasoline as a source of energy for vehicles. The technology is quite advanced now and is feasible. What is required is an infrastructure for supply and an economical power plant. Some of the problems and benefits of fuel cells and alternative energy will be discussed.

We will require a response with a cheque or cash ten days prior to the luncheon. The price of tickets has been reasonable in the past, but depends upon the number of persons attending and the menu selected. If you are interested please inform us by e-mail (hazelbaskin@sympatico.ca) or leave a message on the office phone (990-6673) so that we can finalize our plans. If you have any suggestions or concerns about the luncheon please let us know as this helps us with our planning also.

Friends,
We have been having problems for the past number of years finding a person to be President of the Executive Board of Friends of CRC. During this period a few of the Executive have accepted this position on a rotating basis so that we would have someone to prepare an agenda and Chair our monthly meetings plus a few other duties. Ross Fines has volunteered several times and has been our President for over a year as well as looking after Communications. Don Ross has taken over as President as of January 1, 2003 and he has also done this before. He is helping with Membership as well. At our next Annual General Meeting would someone please accept this position even if it is only for one term. Think about it.

Website:
Thet membership list on the website has been updated and we hope to keep it current by adding or deleting names on a regular basis. Check it out and if you know employees of DRTE or CRC that worked with you who are not on the list please let us know. If you know their address or where they live that would be very helpful. While you are at it, look at the rest of the site.
That’s all until next month. Send us your comments, suggestions, anecdotes or articles.
